WHAT WE DO
Presenting sold-out festivals since its inception in 2021, The West End Micro Music Festival explores the relationships between small ensembles, electronic music, and the visual arts while creating meaningful experiences for its artists and communities
Founded by clarinetist Brad Cherwin and cellist Sebastian Ostertag, the festival has featured violinist Emily Kruspe, Interro Quartet, electronic duo Joyful Joyful, and composer/vocalist Hillary Jean Young. In 2022, the festival hosted Nahre Sol as its inaugural composer-in-residence, and was featured on Sol’s YouTube channel (600k+ subscribers), with additional performances by Cormac Culkeen, Amy Hillis, and Hee-Soo Yoon.
Alongside public performances, WEMMF is committed to outreach and accessibility in the arts, with partnerships including Sistema Toronto, Jardin Infantil Academy, and other local arts organizations. As well, WEMMF maintains an annual tradition of providing free student tickets to all concerts.
The West End Micro Music Festival is held at 1691 Bloor Street West, Toronto, and is proudly supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, The Toronto Arts Council, SOCAN Foundation, and Gowling WLG.
